Tea (or lunch) in the park at Saturday’s Newport Show

FOOD fans will find plenty to set their tastebuds tingling at this year’s Newport Show, staged in the picturesque surrounding of the Chetwynd Deer Park on July 10.

The huge Food Hall will once again be a showcase for the region’s finest foods and will provide plenty of opportunity to ‘try before you buy’ samples.

A Live Cookery Theatre is always popular as is the chance to sit and savour purchases while taking in panoramic views of the deer park and its glistening pool from the Countryside Terrace.

Show manager, Clare Farrell, said: “The Food Hall enjoys wonderful views across the entire showground and is a fabulous place to visit and try delicious cheeses, breads, cakes, wines, ice creams and other delicacies.

“It hosts a wide range of small scale producers, all hand-picked for their delicious and well presented food products. It really is a gourmet’s delight and just one of the many attractions of the show.”

The show, the 101st to be staged by Newport and District Agricultural Society, was visited by more than 12,000 people last year and organisers hope to top that on July 10.

Main ring attractions include Bolddog Freestyle team providing a dare-devil display of jumps and airborne acrobatics as well as a colourful and thrilling display of horsemanship by the Knights of the Damned jousting team.
