Cheese in the Big Apple
Shropshire cheese has been making its mark on the Big Apple, thanks to Whitchurch cheesemakers Appleby’s.
Clare Downes of Appleby’s travelled to New York with British cheese marketing specialists Neal’s Yard Dairy.
The three-week trade visit to the USA included two days at the New York Fancy Food Show and tastings of Appleby’s Cheshire and Double Gloucester to customers at cheese chops across America.
As a result, Appleby’s can be found in many specialist cheese shops and delicatessens across the country.
Clare was delighted with the visit’s success and the warm welcome they received in the US.
She said: “We were made to feel so welcome and were met with excellent hospitality everywhere we went in America. The reception to Appleby’s Cheshire and Appleby’s Double Gloucester was very positive. It was good to see specialist British food products being enjoyed by the Americans.”
